Who are we?

AMI is a small association that focuses completely selflessly on small-scale projects and development aid in Zalom, Cameroon.
Together with the local people, we try to offer the local youth a better future.
Our team:

  • Koen Cornelli, general practitioner in Ostend
  • Pieter Neels, physician-vaccinologist
  • Heidi Schotsmans, general practitioner in Zoersel
  • Frederik Looten, engineer
  • Danielle Van Bruggen, general practitioner in Brasschaat
  • Hans Strijckers, engineer
  • Catherine Deraemaeker, general practitioner in Brussels

AMI also collaborates with the Swiss NGO "Action-Puits pour tous les Peuples"

The founder of the entire project is Étoile Stocker, the Cameroonian widow of a Swiss scientist. She has a heart for children and started a childcare home. In Cameroon, large families find it very difficult financially to raise children themselves. Her mission is to give these children a future in Cameroon, rather than later seeking happiness in the imaginary Eldorado of Europe. The two key words in the project are solidarity and independence.

Solidarity speaks for itself: we must take care of each other. Independence is less obvious in Africa, but within this project the Cameroonian people want to develop an autonomous existence: they want to provide for their own needs! To this end, activities were developed in the areas of education, agriculture, pisciculture, health, tailoring, trade and tourism.
