Dispensary

Medical costs can take a big bite out of the orphanage's budget. Most members of AMI have a medical background, which allows for easy transfer of medical knowledge. For example, a nurse was trained to prepare and analyze a thick drop preparation (a microscopic preparation of blood for the diagnosis of malaria or other parasitic diseases). AMI also provides medical equipment that would otherwise be unaffordable for Zalom.

There is also a fully equipped dental room where children are cared for by a dentist who visits regularly for a small fee.

Where we are still looking for help is to get quick, cheap and reliable medicines (malaria, epilepsy,...) from Belgium to Cameroon in a legal way. If you know how, please contact us.

It was also agreed with the medical authorities of Mfou to vaccinate children under the age of 18 months. All girls aged 12 to 14 were also vaccinated for HPV (cervical cancer prevention).
